Halloween 2011

I made a few small treat bags for some of the neighborhood kids. One of the kids said "oooh what's this? Are there treats inside?"  It was very cute.

I also made a small coffin but ran out of time to decorate so maybe next year.

I finished the birthday card. It is a simple card but fun. I found the mechanics for the card on YouTube called "Marvelous Magical Marquee Card Tutorial" Size: A2

When you open the card a window opens to reveal a message.

Cut four pieces

add the tape& decorate.

What I used:
  • Fiskars paper trimmer,
  • Martha Stewart (MS) Monarch butterfly Large #42-30002,
  • MS Craft 3 in 1 #M283036,
  • MS Traditional scallop edge #42-40010 punches,
  • EK Success Circle cutter,
  • EK Success 2" Circle scallop,
I didn't use a square punch like in the video, I used the paper trimmer instead.
  • Jewels from dollar bin,
  • Pens-Pilot G-1 UG1M-BRZBBC &Sakura Gelly Roll Clear star (my favorite pen)
  • Terrifically Tacky Tape and Zipdry glue.

That's is for now. Thanks for stopping by. Please leave a comment if you have any questions.

Follow-up Cards of Hope

A quick follow-up on the Breast Cancer Survivors card drive. Here is a link to the news article.

http://www.620wtmj.com/home/related/awareness/131179433.html

I saw a close-up of the Dragonfly love card and a sentiment. It really makes me feel good to know that cards I made, gave people hope and brighten their day. I feel very honored to be able to help.
If you'd like to donate to "Cards of Hope" email Kathy at  kmortl@mcw.edu

World Card Making Day

The Cricut Blog is having a contest. I am submitting a Mermaid card.

For this A2 card I used my Cricut Expression with Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge, colored with Perfect Pearls & Distress Ink, the Seahorses are inked using VersaMark & Inkadinkado stamp 60-30154 Summer assortment, Heart are ZingZ sticker accents from Fiskars, and Faux Pearls by ?. sorry.

Also this card has an AWI's action wobbler. So cute. I do have video but I'm not sure how to post video. I will as so as i figure it out.

Okay, Thanks again. Until next time.

Card Birthday Masculine

"L" (my husband) asked me to make a birthday card for his friend, working hard at the CNC machine with pieces of metal flying around." L's friend is a CNC [computer numerical control] machinist.

My Sketch

As I was talking to my mom, telling her about the card, it hit me to make it a shaker card and put the guy inside the machine. Cool.

I made the guy front and back. Cut from (Everyday Paper Dolls 3.25" H), must have safety glasses, grayish hair, blue work clothes. I used goggle eyes and small round punch for mouth.

Front: (Modified the arms and moved them so it looks like he's throwing he's arms up)

Back: (Hand cut the back of his hair.)

Now for the CNC machine. A short description of a CNC machine is metal box with a window (to see work inside). I used gray paper for the machine (cut two) and acetate/clear plastic for the window. Printed the brand name "Milltronics" 0.61"H with black paper.

Now to put it together…Wait. It won't work where would I write a sentiment? Oh man, there goes my design. Okay, a card base 6" x 4.5".

Man no longer needs to be two sided, Oh bother.

I still made the CNC a shaker with foam tape and Recollections, Tinsel glitter silver, and Micro beads clear.

I couldn't get *rid of the static cling. I tried dryer sheet. What a mess. I'll live with the static. I think it still looks okay.

So, I glued him to the front of the card using Zip-Dry, then the CNC shaker over him.

Inside the card, I used Stardust color pens, to jazz up the letters.

The font is from Birthday Cakes cartridge.

*After the fact, I get a  tip from GinaK Designs (StampTV)"How to Avoid Static Cling".
Wash the acetate with soapy water, rinse, and pat dry.

"Next shaker card, Gina; next shaker card".

(Gina is very talented. She has a great web site, where she teaches techniques and inspires.)

Oh, the best part was Don's reaction to the card,"Hey, it's me and my machine! How did you do that, wow!" The card was passed around and shaken by all the family and friends.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my project.

Start Blogging

Welcome to my blog. As you can tell I've not blogged before.

I have been kicking the idea around for a while but didn't know where to start. I decided to start with my most current project.

I follow some super talented women. (Check out the Blinkies&Buttons to the right)
On My Pink Stamper, Robyn's blog I read the need to make one card, for breast cancer survivors breakfast coming up Sept 28th.

Let me tell you about the one card project.

[Martha Stewart Large butterfly punch, versemark stamp, white satin ribbon, & lt blue cardstock.]

Before I mailed it out Kathy wrote Robyn again, needing more cards.

So, my one became twelve. Here they are…

(Hand beaded seed beads.)

I had to fill up the USPS box, (get my moneys postage worth) right.

Oh and one more for Kathy Mortl, for supporting beast cancer survivors.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my projects.

Mother's Day card 2010

My mom likes flower's, just not real ones.? I didn't get that from her, I love getting flowers.
And she loves gift cards; again are we really related? I would take a wrapped gift each and every time.
