First Swap

Hi Happy Tuesday,

I recently joined my first swap at Cricut.com. It was a 5 of 5 Ticket with a Fall theme . I have often read the rules of swaps and most seem to complicated or closed (mostly closed). This one seemed like I could get in and get it completed. Fun!

Fall in Southern Arizona isn't like leafs turning beautiful colors of reds. Cacti sort of look the same all year round with the exception of flowers in the spring and snow in the winter (that's when we have winter).  Anyway, Fall to me is Halloween, Turkeys, and a little snap of cold in the morning. So, here are my tickets.

I have a bunch of $1. stamps from M's and thought standing them up so you could see them from the back, would look cool. Fussy cut the body and head (colored with distress pens). I used Distress inks Rusty hinge and Peeled paint on the tickets. Googly eyes are a must. I stamped Shrink a dinks, cut them out and shrunk them (used heat gun, not oven.) Hee Hee, I think it's so much fun to watch them shrink. Punched silver stars and circle pumpkins. Added rhinestones and black bats.

Martha's Goo punch on the black. Lined out the mummy's head and stamped a leaf & the words happy fall (colored with distress pens).

After I finished them I saw some of the tickets from the Cricut board and felt I needed to make some not "Halloweenish".

I made some Turkeys tickets. Turkey is from Create a Critter cartridge. It was a bit of a challenge to make 1" turkeys. (Tip: use a new blade) I stamped the background with a wood gain stamp and Distress ink Walnut stain.

Back stamped with a leaf & happy fall words. (colored with distress pens)

The next challenge was at the post office. I told the Postman I wanted to send additional postage and DC#. He didn't get it. He told me, "You can't do that." and then hit me with a bunch of questions. "How would you know what much?, what size?, where it's from?... On and on I asked, "Can I please just get $5 in stamps with DC#?" He had more questions, man, I felt like he thought I was trying the brake the law or something. I ended up explained how a Swap works. and then He said, "Why?"   I said, "Why not. It's a craft thing." At that, he sold me the stamps. Yeah, that was fun.

For the Host, Rhona I made a Thank you tag and a little tape runner.

I told you I was "Shrink a dink" CRAZY.
Colored with Sharpies. Martha's Goo punch and Cricut's Tiny bubbles emboss folder.

I can hardly wait to see the tickets I'll get from the other ladies.

This sure was fun!

2012 Get Well & Happy Birthday

About a month ago Selena (fellow Cricuter) asked for cards to be sent to her 13yr old niece. Who was in the hospital during her Birthday.  I told Selena about the Cricut fairies and how they work.  And that I would send a card too.

Well, I ended up making two cards and sending a little gift.

Get Well card:
Owl from Hoot'n' Holler,
Embossed background Stampendous Perlized Amethyst using Recollections Wood grain stamp.

The Birthday card is a lift from (hold on, I wrote it down and now I can't find the paper.)
When I find it, if I ever find it (I've been looking for an hour.) I will up-date.

I made the vellum envelope, punched the stars with EK success star punch, and used washi tape.

Thanks for looking.

Has it been a year! Really? 2012

I find it hard to believe a year has gone by and I am just now getting around to my blog. Wow, I guess my priorities were not focused here. I really do want to have a place to say, "Hi", "Here's what I've been up to", "Take a look at my crafts", Life, and stuff.

I have a plan of how I want my space to look (it's so not there yet), what I'll share and a time frame to follow. So, who needs January 1st to start a new. Today is a new day, (well morning, 1:00am) gee, I think is time to get some sleep.
